Mother's Day, that single day of the year where we stop to thank all those mother's in our life who give us so much, every day of the year... Well, at least we think to honor them once a year, I guess :-) So it is that on this Mother's Day, we ask Ruby McGraw to come speak, to tell us what is going on at the shelter. Inviting Ms. McGraw to come speak happened because you all at Trinity decided long ago that every May we will increase our support to the Domestic Violence Shelter. that no more tears can leave us   Octoberis Domestic Violence Awareness Month.   Thestatistics are staggering . So many people are affected.   All too often the church is complicit in this form of violence. Worse though, the church is not merely complicit in this violence, often the church is active in legitimating a particular form of domestic violence. There are biblical injunctions that the woman should be subordinate to a man. These words display an assumption that a woman should stand in fear of her husband and always acquiesce to the husband's opinion.   These words are tragic.
